Driving uninsured is a really terrible idea

Why you shouldn't drive uninsured
Perhaps you have had thoughts like "I do not really need auto insurance, do I?" Don't be ashamed to admit it.
At some point, the majority of people have such thoughts, according to statistics. Its nothing to be ashamed of.
The economy is in a bad shape, car insurance is expensive and everyone wants to save money.
But you know you have done the right thing by purchasing auto insurance, don't you.
Driving without being insured is a dreadful idea, and here is why.
1. Its illegal to drive without insurance!
Every single state in America has laws requiring drivers to carry auto insurance! Its not an option, its not something you should do just if you feel like it - its obligatory.
You must know that insurance laws in every state are different. Normally, being fined for driving uninsured is the bare minimum.
In some states you may lose your driving permit and even be send to court. Unless you cause a horrendous accident and hurt people or damage property, you are not likely to go to prison.
There is an argument that sanctions against uninsured drivers are not tough enough.
2. Being uninsured is reckless
Statistics show that people who drive uninsured are more likely to commit other offences too.
Driving under the influence, speeding and reckless driving, to name but a few. Its often ignored that other people's lives are at risk also.
Uninsured driver is more likely to hit someone and drive away.
3. It will be more expensive in the long run
There is this false illusion amongst uninsured drivers that not having to pay for auto insurance will save them cash.
Quite contrary - it will end up costing them considerably more. After paying the fines and fees comes having to carry Sr22 insurance.
That fact by itself will double insurance premiums at the very least. It is not uncommon for victims in accidents caused by uninsured drivers, to take legal actions.
Soon all the fines, future auto insurance cost and court fees can add up to an astronomical amount of money.
It will be nearly impossible to find affordable auto insurance in the future.
Is it really worth it?
If you haven't realised the real consequences and have been driving uninsured, may be its time to stop and think. Is it really worth it? Is being fined and probably sued something that you want?
When you start your car in the morning, do you feel you are doing the right thing? Save yourself a lot of trouble by getting insured as soon as possible.
